its finals week so i thought it would be the right time to share my opinions and outlook on getting through school and managing good grades. As one wise senior put it, “if you just simply go to all your classes, you’ll get a B. if you just read the textbook and don’t go to class, you can still get a B. if you do both, you’ll get an A.” I’d say this is pretty accurate based on my experience at U of O so far. However, I would slightly re-word his theory.

I would say you need to go to class and not necessarily read, but at least do some work outside of the classroom. It could be reviewing slides, putting extra effort into a homework assignment, or even just going to your teacher’s office hours. (office hours can be very rewarding especially in improving their opinion of you and helping future grades). If you put in this combination (and are relatively capable) you should have a good shot at an A in the class.
